How do you know if you need a new website?
Our main goal with our clients is offer services to our clients that they need, if it doesn’t benefit you, we simply don’t do it. Often, we will get calls from people who think that they need a new website. Often, a complete website redesign isn’t really needed and a few tweaks are all that is required.
It isn’t a secret when it comes to the use of a website. The question is if your website has functionality and positive user experience along with search engine representation and discovery. Simply put, does your website do what it is supposed to do? Are people able to find what they are looking for on your site? Does your website show the message that you want to convey to the people looking at it? And, Are people able to find you when they are looking for your product and services on search engines.
What is the message that you want to present?
First off, it is important to convey the correct message on your site while also showing your companies personality. Remember, this can be the first time these people see you, so you want to convey the products and services that you offer while you are able to show what makes you different from everyone else. You can do this by showing your information in a way that is easily understood by the people who are reading it, using your words, not “Key words”. You will appear less stale and people will know what to expect. This also will aid in search engine discovery because you are looking to attract people looking for your services, not to get listed higher on a search engine. Search engines know this, and can tell if you are packing key words for them, and not the end user.
Can users find what they are looking for?
Having someone on your website is great, but if they can’t find what they are looking for, they will be gone in seconds. User experience is important, a flashy website is great, but if people can’t find what they are looking for, they will look elsewhere. Be sure the navigation of your website is simple and straightforward. A simple tweak to your menu may be all that you need.
How does your website look?
Of course, there is the visual part. If you have a boring website with no pics or old layout, yes, you may want to develop something more current. But again, some simple tweaks may take care of this for you.
Does your website work on all the platforms like mobile and desktop?
With the increased accessibility of the internet, you want to make sure that your website is functioning and legible on mobile phones, tablets and desktops. A responsive website is required for this and when it is designed properly will cover all of these issues on all platforms. This is a case that may require a new website and is more common.
