Google introduced AMP content into the top stories carousel in mobile results back in February and is starting to take traction. A few reasons why this initiative was introduced is mainly geared toward the mobile user experience. Slow loading pages and performance are issues people commonly experience when searching on mobile devices. Amp Pages on average load in less then one second and are around 4 times faster yet use 10 times less data. While it isn’t clear yet how it affect your rankings as we are told that AMP pages won’t have a direct link to boosting your performance, page speed and other factors can possible be aided by using an AMP page. This is something that we should keep an eye on for future applications.
